Our second diorama, constructed in October 2002, recreated an underwater scene that could be experienced as either a "day dive" or a "night dive" using a toggle switch on the side of the box. The diorama was viewed through an actual dive mask. The "day dive" scene was lit by a blue lightbulb and a black light; the "night dive" was lit by only the black light. Fish and jellyfish were suspended from the ceiling by monofilament line. Certain elements in the scene were painted with fluorescent paint which glowed brightly under the black light. The gravel bottom of the scene was sloped and tapered in width in order to provide an exaggerated sense of depth.
