Eugene Celebration Parade videos

Posted by Steve on September 15th, 2008

You can also watch a significantly higher-quality version of the video above in our Me.com gallery.
In addition, it turns out our neighbors were in the parade this year. So, for them I assembled a separate video of “The Peace Train” entry and Rob Handy’s campaign group. You’re welcome to watch it as well!

All in a day’s work

Posted by Steve on September 15th, 2008

We had a very busy weekend, but Sunday in particular was a bit of a frenzy:

Before breakfast, Evan and I put the finishing touches on a video from the previous day’s Eugene Celebration parade. (The video is here!)

After a quick breakfast consisting of bagels and cream cheese leftover from the aforementioned parade, we got our [...]

Proxy Falls video

Posted by Steve on September 6th, 2008

Why not take two minutes away from your stressful, busy day and watch this peaceful little video of our hike to Proxy Falls? It will transport you to the Three Sisters Wilderness, where vine maples grow like twigs of green, orange, and red paint from the charcoal grey lava rocks that are their canvas. Then, [...]

The link below will take you to a photo album with a few photos of Evan and Erin (mostly Evan) from our hike to Proxy Falls and other sites in the McKenzie Pass area. It’s a private album, so if you haven’t set up a login to our photo gallery, why not do it right [...]

Day trip to Proxy Falls & McKenzie Pass

Posted by Steve on September 3rd, 2008

On Sunday, we had a great day hiking with the kids to Proxy Falls off the old McKenzie Highway. What a gorgeous — and accessible — area! For years, Jen and I passed up this spot because it’s such a short hike (1 mile loop) for how long it takes to get there (about 80 [...]

Humble harvest

Posted by Steve on September 1st, 2008

In case you hadn’t heard, the gardening gods that normally bestow glorious growing conditions upon the Willamette Valley apparently turned their attention elsewhere this summer. Our weather has been cooler and wetter this year, though not dramatically so, but we’ve also had abrupt shifts from hot to cool. Apparently, these patterns have confused a lot [...]

Alton Baker Park (cont.)

Posted by Steve on August 24th, 2008

As I said previously, I was able to shoot some pictures during our walk this morning in the Whilamut Natural Area of Alton Baker Park. Did you know that “Whilamut” is a
Kalapuyan word that means, “where the river ripples and runs fast”? Neither did I! Anyway, because there are some good shots of the kids, [...]

Alton Baker Park

Posted by Steve on August 24th, 2008

We went for a walk this morning in the open grassy area on the east end of Alton Baker Park (aka the Whilamut Natural Area). Evan rode his bike, Jen pushed Erin in the stroller, and I got to take a few pictures:

First visit to the dentist

Posted by Steve on August 18th, 2008

Evan was cool, calm, and cooperative at his first visit to the dentist this morning. He had his teeth cleaned, polished, treated with fluoride foam, and examined. In addition, they were able to get three out of four desired X-rays, which is one more than I can handle in a single sitting and about [...]

A morning at Mt. Pisgah

Posted by Steve on August 17th, 2008

We headed out to Mt. Pisgah early this morning for a “breakfast picnic” and then to “hike” around for a while. Erin, who turns 8 months old tomorrow, rode around in the backpack for the first time. She absolutely loved it, cooing and giggling almost the entire time.

Evan walked on his own the whole [...]
