Some real snow!

Anytime it snows for more than, say, three hours in Eugene, it’s considered “real” snow. But today, it snowed continuously for at least 8 hours! And that has to be some kind of record, right? Ok, perhaps not.
But given that we typically only get snow in the Southern Willamette Valley just once, maybe twice a year, we usually make a bigger deal about it than we should. Of course, as I look out into our back yard, it now appears to have stopped….
As the photo shows, we currently have between 4-5 inches of snow on the ground. We also lost power for about 35-40 minutes at some point between 12-1pm.
The day started as our Sundays often do, with plans to go out for pancakes! But when we looked outside, it was snowing and there was already an inch or two already on the ground. We moved the car seats over to the (4-wheel drive) truck and headed out anyway, figuring there wouldn’t be many cars out and the roads wouldn’t be too bad yet. We were right. But on the drive home, there were a lot more cars out, and the roads had definitely become worse.
Upon returning home, the task was clear. Operation Snow Beast ensued. The snow was wet and packed extremely well. In no time, we rolled three large snow balls and formed our icy creature. Eventually, Evan’s hands got cold, and we retreated to the warmth of the house where hot chocolate with marshmallows was served.
