Catching up… A trip to the Oregon Coast
Posted by Steve on May 3rd, 2007Over Easter weekend, we made our usually-annual trip to the Oregon Coast. In the past, we’ve stayed at different places in Bandon and Pacific City, but this year we decided to stay in good ol’ Newport. For one thing, it’s closer than both Bandon and P.C., but it also has the Oregon Coast Aquarium, to which we’d been wanting to take Evan for some time.
We spent much of our first day at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. (We were actually staying just a short distance from the entrance.) We took the stairs down to Cobble Beach at low tide and walked around the tide pools. Evan absolutely loved it! By the end of the trip, he was talking about how the tide pools (”tigh-poo”) have sea stars (”seee-stah”), urchins (”errrr-din”), and anemones (”a-nema-nema-nema-nema”) in them. The next day at the aquarium, he got to see the octopus (”ock-toh”), sea otters, sea lions, birds, and seals (”ar-ar-ar”).

What a nice surprise to get a comment from you. Your baby is sure growing up!
I remember when you were about the only person who commented on my blogs — thanks for that early encouragement. I’ve got quite a network going now and it’s great fun.
Take care — Betty
