The Pumpkin Patch

Posted by Jen on October 19th, 2006

2006-10-14On Saturday, we had a great time with Steve’s sister, niece, and nephew at the Lone Pine Farms pumpkin patch. The sun was shining, but there was a little crispness in the air. It was a beautiful day!

We decided to take the horse-drawn hay ride out to the pumpkin patch, instead of walking. During the ride, we saw llamas, cows, horses, and the cow train. Evan also enjoyed playing with the hay in the wagon. (His first experience with hay!)

2006-10-14Once we got to the patch, everyone in the wagon piled out and started looking for the “perfect” pumpkin. There were all kinds of different pumpkins and gourds to choose from. It was a little difficult to walk through the vines on the ground, and Evan fell a few times when his feet got tangled up. While we were looking around, Evan drummed on a few larger pumpkins and smelled the flowers. It took a little while, but we all picked a pumpkin and climbed back in the wagon for the return trip.

Back at the main barn, Steve and his sister paid for the pumpkins and got us all some snacks. We munched on our treats and watched the other visitors weighing their pumpkins and waiting for the hay ride. The weather was beautiful and the adventure was fruitful. We all had a great time!
