The bounty continues
Posted by Steve on September 10th, 2006The garden has been in full production for the past few weeks. Oddly enough, though, our zucchini plants are rather anemic this year. We just picked our first one, and there are only 2-3 growing. Weird. On the other hand, we’ve been inundated with tomatoes. My pruning regimen seems to have really paid off! Recently, after seeing this article in the RG, I tried roasting 6-8 fresh fruit in the oven for use in a sauce later this Fall. Here are a couple photos of that endeavour:
After roasting, the skins pulled off easily. As suggested in the article, I puréed them with a little of the juice and then mixed it back in with the roasted fruit. Should be delicious!
This afternoon’s harvest consisted of a plethora of peppers, tons of tomatoes, a bevy of beans, a cumulation of carrots, and a zingle zucchini!

Very nice! It’s always exciting when the garden does well. Our garden is mostly done now. We have a few carrots in the ground, and there are some peppers that we haven’t picked yet. I’ll probably pick them and roast them this weekend. After the garden is really done, I’m planning to build a good sized raised bed. Hopefully, I’ll get to it before it snows.
