Visiting the Fair

Posted by Jen on August 16th, 2006

Evan and I had a great time at the Lane County Fair today. Evan pointed out all the different animals to me as we toured the small animal exhibits. We saw the bunnies, ducks, birds, and roosters without incident. Then we came up to the turkeys. One turkey was walking back and forth, and all his feathers were puffed out. Evan seemed okay, even though this bird was looking down on Evan in his stroller. Then the turkey let out a loud “gobble gobble”. Evan’s eyes grew really large, and he started to cry and reach for me. I took him out of his stroller and tried to calm him down. However, the only thing that seemed to make him stop crying was moving away from the turkey and over to the much quieter sheep.

Shortly after that, we met one of Evan’s friend and his friend’s mom back at the rabbit exhibit. We spent the rest of the afternoon strolling around the fair and enjoying the wonderful fried foods they have to offer. We did take a few moments to try and locate Tim and Kim’s exhibits, but we were unable to find them. Kim wrote about their fair submissions on her blog. A much easier place to find them. :)

On our way out of the fair, we purchased a funnel cake and watched Chip, the dog, demonstrate the dog dock jump. Lots of fun! We had a great afternoon and will definitely be heading to the fair again next year.
