| View from Oakmont Park's "meadow" |
As mentioned in my previous post, we spent a little time over at
Oakmont Park. It’s a neat little park that was designed to meet the needs of its visitors as well as the people who live around it. In what was previously just a flat lot, planners varied the elevations and created berms to contain noise and screen the adjacent properties. At its core is an “active play” area with the requisite sand, fountain, benches, swings, and other play equipment. Around the core are two informal play fields and a “buffer zone” consisting of native trees and a small meadow.
Since this was my first time at this park, I took a few minutes to explore while Jen and Evan played in the sand. And it was in the meadow area that I took the following photos. At a distance, the plants in this area probably look like weeds to most people. But if you look just a little closer, the natural beauty of these wildflowers comes out.

The pink flower with the sky in the background is a really nice shot!
