10 Months Old!

Posted by Jen on April 10th, 2006

Evan is now 10 months old. I know I say this each month, but he is growing so quickly!

Evan has started talking!!! He works hard to communicate with us and has moved from mimicking our sounds to using words. When we eat and he is full, he says ‘all done’, raises his hands up, and then claps. It’s very cute. :) He knows who ‘dada’ and ‘mama’ are and says short phrases like “hi dada”.

He is working on even more words, but here is a list of the words he uses the most:

  • hi
  • dada
  • mama
  • ahhh don (all done)
  • diaper
  • baby
  • apple
  • byebye

Not only has he started talking this month, but he started clapping his hands and is working on pointing and gestures. It’s very fun to watch him work on his communication skills. He does get frustrated at times and resorts to crying if he can’t get his point across. Of course, the crying doesn’t help us figure out what he wants, but it does seem to help Evan feel better. This is definitely a fun age!

He is also pulling himself up to a standing position and has started doing this after his naps in his crib. Now when I go in to get Evan, he is standing there waiting for me. He does take some steps when he is holding on to something (cruising), and I expect this to increase as he becomes stronger and learns to balance himself a little better.

He also has two teeth now. His bottom, front teeth have come in, but it is tricky to get a look at them. He isn’t interested in showing them to anyone. He does brush his teeth in the morning, with some help, and tends to push his tongue over them during the day when he is playing.

Each day he seems to learn something new and it’s a blast watching him! He is gowing up so fast!!!!

Happy birthday to Evan! Pretty soon you’ll be counting the years, not the months — enjoy it while you can!
