8 Months Old!
Posted by Jen on February 8th, 2006
Evan is now eight months old! Each month he grows and changes so much. This last month, we have been working on eating solid foods and taking regular naps. Evan is a very fun and active baby.
Here are some other things that Evan is doing:
- Waving
On January 14th, he waved to the “baby in the mirror”, and on the same day waved to Grandma. He got an excited response and has been waving ever since. Over the last couple of weeks, he has been improving his wave from the entire arm gesture to a simple hand wave. - Crawling
He has been working on slow army crawl and at times is in the crawl position, but only rocks back and forth. We’re sure he’ll start crawling soon. - Feeding
Evan feeds himself cooked apple slices, banana slices, Veggie Puffs, chicken, and anything else put on his tray. He can also use the spoon to get food into his mouth. He still needs help getting the food on the spoon, though. - Talking
“Baba”, “Gaga”, “Dada”, “Mama”, “Hi” are his most favorite words. He has many other combinations of sounds and uses them all to get his point across. - Mirror games
On February 8th, Evan looked at the “baby in the mirror” and touched his own head and nose. It was the first time he didn’t reach for that baby, but instead touched his own face. We think that he recognizes himself in the mirror and no longer thinks there is another baby that lives in the bathroom.

So good to hear he’s doing well! I am always amazed at what babies learn in such a short time! Don’t wish for the crawling and walking to happen to soon :), that will add a whole new dimension to looking after Evan!
