A merry Christmas but a sad New Year

Posted by Steve on January 6th, 2006

We had a great first Christmas with Evan. He developed his gift-opening skills faster than you can imagine. The three of us spent Christmas Day at home. It was peaceful, quiet, and lots of fun. On the 26th, we headed up to Olympia to spend a couple nights at my parents’ house and to “recelebrate” Christmas there (i.e., more presents for Evan!). We returned to Eugene on Wednesday the 28th and picked up Jen’s dad and step-mom at the airport that evening. We treated them to a delicious dinner at Cafe Soriah on Thursday evening and were looking forward to celebrating New Years with them over the weekend.

However, Friday morning brought tragic news as I learned that my sister had passed away. I don’t feel like going into any details at this point except to say that even though she had been very sick for a long time, her death came as a terrible shock to all of us. I was on a plane to Houston that evening, and I just returned home last night. I am sad and exhausted.

Christmas photos soon.
