First overnight trip
Posted by Steve on September 6th, 2005We spent most of our Labor Day weekend in Olympia, WA, at my (Steve’s) parents’ house. This was our first (planned, non-hospital-related) overnight trip with Evan. Of course, we couldn’t leave Gauss behind either. So I attached the Yakima RocketBox, stuffed the car full of gear, and we were off. Overall, the travel portion of the trip went pretty well. Yes, it took us longer to get there than it used to, but being forced to take a couple breaks in the middle of that otherwise pretty darn boring drive isn’t such a bad thing. Once we were there, Gauss and Evan settled in fine.
We definitely enjoyed the delicious food and the change of scenery. The weather up there is “just that much” cooler than it is down here in Eugene, and it was an extremely welcome change. We had just enough extra time to visit with a couple close relatives. And I did a lot of work on my Dad’s new iMac G5 (software updates, importing music, setting up his new iPod, etc.).
We got back Monday evening, and I had arranged to take Tuesday off just so we’d have a little extra time before it was back to the grind, which is what happens tomorrow. Ugh.
