36-week Update
Posted by Steve on May 12th, 2005The Pregnancy
I thought it was about time to give another update on the pregnancy. We are just over 4 weeks away from the due date of June 14. Jen continues to be doing very well. There is some fatigue, of course. And she is having to deal with rapidly declining mobility. (Even though it is increasingly difficult to get out of, she still isn’t cursing the comfy leather sofa recliner we got earlier in the year!) Starting next week, we’ll be seeing the doctor weekly up until the baby is born.
Work Plans
Jen will continue working up to the Memorial Day weekend before going on leave. (Last day at work will be Friday, May 27.) This will give her as much time as she needs to rest in the days leading up to the delivery. I will be taking off 2 full weeks following the birth and will work half-days for another 2 weeks after that.
Baby’s Room
The baby’s room is vastly improved from my last report. The painting has been done for weeks now (and all the fumes are finally dissipated). The crib has been assembled; the dresser eventually arrived; a “ladder-style” shelving unit was moved in; and we’re actively acquiring equipment and supplies. We’ve had the “travel system” for at least a couple months, and we got an awesome undersea-themed swing from Tim & Kim (neither of which has been assembled yet). I’ll try to get some photos posted soon.
Mood
Our anticipation is really building. Up until a week or two ago, the time had gone by so amazingly quickly. But now it kind of feels like time is slowing down and the date may never arrive. Of course, it will arrive. And it will be exciting and new and… well, an adventure.
