Time flies!
Posted by Steve on March 18th, 2005Wow! Time is going by so quickly right now. Before Jen and I were pregnant, I can remember thinking, “9 months is a long time. We’ll have lots of time to get things done while Jen is pregnant.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. Of course, it probably hasn’t helped that we’ve maintained some of our other activities in addition to taking on all the tasks associated with having a baby.
For instance, at the end of February, we made an extended weekend trip to Nanaimo, BC, so I could do some diving. I got in 6 dives over two days with the first day consisting of three wreck dives! Jen and I dove two of these wrecks a year earlier, but the third wreck was brand new, having been sunk as an artificial reef just a few weeks prior to our arrival. As an added bonus, I got to dive this new wreck as a night dive! It was probably the best night dive I’ve ever done. Of course, we failed to find a hagfish like we did last year, but oh well!
On the last night of the trip, I started coming down with what would end up being a very nasty flu virus. It started with a dry throat, then drainage, and before you know it I was engulfed by a full-fledged flu the likes of which I have not experienced for many, many years. We left Nanaimo early and drove all the way back to Eugene on Monday, and unfortunately, due to my rapidly declining state, poor Jen had to do almost all of the driving. That flu put me out of commission for almost a full week!
As you might have guessed by Jen’s post, I spent most of last weekend painting the baby’s room. The walls and ceiling are finished, and I am now moving on to the trim and closet interior. All I can say is that it is a lot of work!
This weekend we are expecting a visit from our good friend Kevin. He recently spent a month in Italy and other parts of Europe, and we are looking forward to hearing about his trip and seeing some pictures. And while I’m at it, I might as well take this opportunity to plug one of Kevin’s passions: He is a member of the Seattle-based performance troupe, Circus Contraption.
Looking forward, we’ve got a number of things planned for the rest of March and April. More baby classes, a trip or two, and of course, more projects around the house!
